One of the most popular types of video game on the market right now is multiplayer online battle arenas, or MOBAs, and Awesomenauts is a striking example of why those games are so much fun.

This game is one of the more engaging battle arena games available today, and it takes advantage of excellent storytelling, world-class voice acting, and top-tier graphics. While the story is more of a backdrop to the action of the game itself, it still represents an awe-inspiring situation. The gameplay might actually make players forget about the background story, but as a fast-paced battle arena game, that is a good thing. Of course, there are so many games like this out there, but there are few with the consistent playability and quality of Awesomenauts.

There is no question that this game is meant to be addictive. It takes no effort to accidentally spend several hours playing, and once players find themselves winning, they won't be able to look away from the screen. Each game is a 3v3 battle, so you will play with two partners against an enemy team of three members. If you have friends playing the game, you can join them directly for battle, or you can use the matchmaking system to find random players at any time.

The characters that players control are called Awesomenauts, hence the name of the game. The system includes so many different Awesomenauts that players will have to take some time playing with each to find their favorite. As with other games of this type, each character has their own unique abilities, timing, and style. It is up to the player to determine the Awesomenaut they can control the easiest or in the most effective manner.

As you play the game, you'll collect coins that will buy new abilities or power-ups, and everything happens in real-time, so players won't be able to sit there and take their time deciding on a new ability or power. Choices must happen quickly if you want to stay in the game. Awesomenauts is an incredibly fast-paced game, but there are many instances where matchmaking battles can last for over an hour. When two teams are very evenly matched, the battle can last ages.

Players have the ability to taunt their enemies after they have killed them, and while those taunts are fun, they don't really constitute any real communication. They can be used to provoke untimely attacks, but beyond that, they are merely for fun. A team chat function probably should have been included to help ease the congestion of the game, but those sorts of features might be provided in a later version.

This game is constantly being updated with new levels and Awesomenauts, which makes it worth the small fee that is required to play regularly. There are few multiplayer online battle arena games that are this much fun.
